16 Stone

at the window in my great grandparent's house
stood a chair
that i sat in every weekend to read out loud

wood and tapestry,
i wrote on the bottom
my own three year old graffiti

today
i came across that very same chair
tucked in the corner of an antique shop

it took my breath away

an unexpected
reminder of people
who loved so well
now gone
and sunny afternoons spent reading out loud

  1. Oh, goodness, Lisa! This really reached me, since I am one who holds antiques and feels the joy of the item.
Oh, by the way, I have chosen you to reflect on your blog postings. Please go to my site (http://thecontemplativecat.blogspot.com) and see what is being asked of you. I found it worthwhile.
