Oh Hail.

It hailed this glorious afternoon in the Northwest.  Mountain Man, the kids and I sat out on the front porch and watched the spectacle.  Our feet got wet.  I think a piece of hail ended up in my eye.  A herd--no seriously--of squirrels took shelter in our blossoming cherry trees out front and we watched Nature work her glory and wonder.

I breathed in.

After our feet were dry, we played at least twenty games of Uno, and I cheated during them all.
What?
They know what I am when they invited me to play.

Then we made and drank lavender lemonade from the blossoms of our very own lavender.
Music is playing.

It's a perfect afternoon.

How was your Saturday?

  1. 7 scrapbook pages completed, 10 flats of strawberries picked by my Klicker teens, 1 round of golf that just beat the storm, two watercolor paintings by two sweet boys which unfortunately got rained on + a kung fu match recorded on my iPhone for posterity.

And now we're off to the movies. Lovely Saturday!

  2. It was lazy, and lacking in thunderstorms or hail. I really needed some down time...I almost don't even feel guilty!

  3. Lavender lemonade - sounds too good to be true. My Saturday has been nil, too hot to go out and so am playing dominoes with the neighbors.

  4. I had an awesome Saturday, thanks for asking! We went on an adventure on our motorcycle and my arse flattened to a painful slab of concrete pancake but it was HUGE fun and we wound it all up with pizza with friends. No hail or lavender lemonade (and gee, doesn't that sound better than a flattened arse?)

  6. We're having a stormy Sunday here. I did some writing on my novel as I drank iced coffee while the rain poured down outside my window. Later, on the agenda, are curling up with a book and some magazines, watching some baseball with my husband, and making something new in the crockpot. Good day. Happy weekend all! :)

  7. I love to open the door when it's raining - but it has to be a severely heavy and (very importantly) straight down rain, or the kitchen would get flooded. I love the rain, although your hailstorm sounds just as good.

My sister got married on Saturday. I was bridesmaid. It rained - the straight down, heavy kind, although we were in a marquee and we had to run to the house for the bathrooms. In the dark. My feet - and brand new shoes - got very wet!

    1. Oh no!! Rain on a wedding day isn't the best, that's for sure--but any other day, I'm all in for rain!

I hope the wedding was beautiful and filled with joy!

  8. Glad you were able to hang with your family and play Uno. You'll have to explain how to successfully cheat in that game.

    1. There's no secret. I deal everyone 7 cards (or however many they are supposed to get) except my husband who gets 13. Then when say, blue is laid down, I can lay ANYTHING I want down because, "Hey! Green is close to blue, so that counts." Likewise with any other color--just make up some dumb excuse. It works for number too--for instance, if someone lays down a 3, and all you have is a 6, well, 3+3=6 so slap it down friend.

      I win every time. :)

Another perk for me is, is that I don't enjoy board games, so this hastens the pain...;)
