Joyride A to Z: Gratitude

This being human is a guest house, every morning a new arrival…
a joy, a depression, a meanness,
Some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all.
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows who violently sweep the house empty of its furniture.
Still, treat each guest honourably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whomever comes because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
                                                                             ~Rumi

"Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude. "
                                       ~Ralph Waldo Emmerson

Gratitude for all things brings me joy (even the hard stuff.) What are you grateful for today?

  1. I love this! Always important to be grateful for what you have, and never take anything for granted! I would say I'm grateful for a break from university, to spend some time with the people most important to me (:

  4. I posted about Gratitude today as well. Become more aware of how blessed I truly am--for everything in my life--has made such a huge difference for me.

  5. Gratitude for the tiniest things is so important. You do not realize what we take for granted until it is gone. My youngest suffered an injury two years ago. We have another surgery this month still trying to repair the damage. It impacts her hearing, and while she can live and normal healthy life if this next surgery (our final attempt) doesn't work, if you told someone today you are grateful for your hearing, they may look at your sideways.

  9. I am grateful that I could get out of bed this morning and greet our friends who came for dinner at noon. I am grateful for the medication which helps me cope with the pain. I am grateful that the sun is shining and the sky is blue; we may be seeing the end of winter (after about seven months). There are many other things for which I am grateful; they could fill a whole page of comments, I suspect.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  16. Today I'm grateful for all the wonderful people who create content online, whether it be blogging, writing fiction, drawing pictures and comics, making videos, etc. They do it all for free and I think that's a wonderful thing.
